Goodbyes

The sad part about moving to Sackville is of course saying goodbye to all our friends here. It feels like the last two weeks (or more) have been a series of farewells. Last night was my last chance to go to the SnB at Lettuce Knits, and so I said goodbye to all the wonderful women down there. I know I’ll keep in touch with many of them through my blog and email, but it just won’t be the same as hanging out with them all and feeling part of a lovely, warm, and funny community. Sigh.

But the sting of parting was lessened somewhat by a wonderful gift from Dani, whose picture of the two of us I’ve shamelessly stolen from her site:

She decided I needed something to remember Ontario by, and so gave me two luscious skeins of Koigu (and an Aero Caramel just in case New Brunswick doesn’t have the fancy candy):

I’ve actually never knitted with Koigu, so I’m very excited. As you can see, I took advantage of Lettuce Knits’ facilities one last time and wound the skeins into balls, so that they’re ready for knitting at a moment’s notice. I may not be able to hold out very long! Thanks again, Dani — you’re so sweet!

And finally, just to give you a taste of what’s been occupying most of my time recently, here’s a couple of shots of the current state of our house:

Fun, fun, fun!

Well, I am glad you liked the gift, but I am not glad that you are going. I do hope that the move goes without a hitch though!

Moving is hard. I’ve done it several times - although not for the last many years. I hope it all works out well for you and that there are many great knitters in Sackville.

1. You bought those boxes at the Box Spot didn’t you? (I have a basement full of them).

2. You’ve never knit with Koigu?! It’s the crack of merino wool. My very very favourite.

3. Good luck with the move and everything in Sackville.

Good luck with the move—I don’t envy you! I’m sure that you guys have a great future ahead—look forward to seeing what comes next!

I still cant believe you’re leaving!! Safe journey Aven, take lots of pics of your new home when you get there for us :)

Just seeing those boxes makes me sad and twitchy - I hate moving.

Save travels to you, your “family,” and all your important stuff.

It makes me sad to see all of those boxes cause I think I was in denial of you leaving! However, I hear sackville is lovely in May and I have a large van which can hold lots of yarn….

I wish you lots of luck with your move and I’m sure you’ll find some new lovely knitting buds! Although they may not be as ‘colourful’ as us…

It was nice to see you and say good bye on Wednesday. And I thought you were moving to Nova Scotia! (guess I need to check a map).

Aven,
Little bits of reassurance for you:
1. London-Wul carries Koigu.
2. NB DOES indeed have the fancy chocolate (it’s even home to Ganong’s Chocolate Factory - I was weaned off the bottle onto their chocolate.)
3. You are getting closer to the Fleece Artist source…
4. I’ll be driving through your new ‘hood on my way to Fredericton on Sept. 13 or 14. Meet ‘cha at Timmie’s?

Wow - Happy moving and good luck in Sackville! [still trying to figure out if that is a real name or not, lol…]
