News

I’m finishing up Rosebud (but that’s not the news). I’m just doing the crochet edging for the armholes and neck, but I can only do it for short periods of time because it hurts my hand, especially with the stiff silk yarn.

But that’s ok, because it gives me time to tell you something that would probably be made clear by my modelling of the completed top. The big news around here is that I’m pregnant! Just finished the first trimester, so we’re starting to tell the world. And Rosebud is my first official pregnancy knitting — I made the maternity top version. (Hence the potential revelation in the modelling — I’m not showing yet, though the top makes my non-pregnancy related belly roundness a little too obvious, in my opinion! I clearly can’t wear it until I can claim it’s all due to the baby!).

While we’re very excited, of course, I don’t want this blog to become all about the pregnancy and (with luck) the baby — not that I won’t share it with you, but I’ll try to keep the focus on the knitting. I think I’ll probably end up starting a separate blog for baby-related stuff, which may be slightly more private (i.e. I might password protect it, but I’ll be happy to give out the password to whoever asks for it — I just don’t know if I want this all available (and associated with my name, since this isn’t an anonymous blog) to the very public world of the internet). But I’ll let you know if/when that happens.

In the meantime, you can expect to see some little knitted things in the near future… perfect stash-busting projects!

Ha, that’s what I said at first too. I didn’t want to burden my friends with my “breeding”. I even made a separate journal. But then being a parent becomes your whole life, and is the reason that you can go days without knitting ;-) I really enjoy reading mommy knitting blogs, because I can get both fixes at once.

Congrats!

Congrats! I can honestly say that I wouldn’t mind baby blogging. Yes, I come here for the knitting but also for the knitter. So baby blog away, IMO!

I love reading about the kidlets of other people but you are right about safety. However, great knitting projects! Cute and instant gratification.

By the way…yeah!

Woohoo!!! A BIG congrats to you and Mark! :) Good idea about waiting after the 1st trimester, I did that all but once and it hurt more to tell people a bad news than a happy one.

Aven wishing you a very healthy and peaceful pregnancy, you will be a great mom. :)

Congratulations! It is always good to have more reasons to knit:) Blog about whatever you want; my favourite blogs talk about life/interests/thoughts as well as knitting. I usually lurk, but this was a great reason to delurk.

Oops, sorry Marie (and John) — I was trying so hard to be good and not let anyone know before the Official Announcement, that we’ve hardly called anyone yet. Good thing you’re a blogger, eh?! (Look what you’ve done to your relatives, Aven, making us all blog addicts!) Love you all three, er, four, including Tigger, not to speak of your very wonderful Blog Friends. Hi, demoness knitters and good buddy-esses!

Yea, a baby! Congratulations! I’d love to hear your pregnancy/baby news however understand if you want to keep most of it in a more private venue. So exciting … a baby’s room to plan, and the wee things to buy.
