This weekend, we were at the wedding of very good friends, up in the Gatineaus outside of Ottawa. It was a lovely wedding, with perfect weather and a beautiful setting, and it gave us a chance to catch up with several friends we haven’t seen for too long.
As far as the blog is concerned, though, the most important thing is that I bought a dress to wear for it, and actually had a picture taken of Mark and me — so I can show you what I look like now! I haven’t really posted any “belly shots” here, partly because I haven’t taken all that many. But this should give you an idea of my current size — at 35 weeks.

Oh, by the way, I don’t think I’ve mentioned this here, but we now know the gender (thanks to the ultrasound technicians here in Toronto, who had no problem telling us). It’s a boy! (We didn’t really have a preference, but it’s exciting to know).
Posted by Aven at September 21, 2006 06:43 PMYou look lovely Aven! Enjoy the last few weeks!
Posted by: Chelle at September 21, 2006 08:46 PMYou look lovely! and you both look so happy. I really like your dress. Have you knit any baby items yet?
Posted by: Shannon at September 21, 2006 09:21 PMWow, you look SO much better than I did at 35 weeks! Congratulations! Long may it be so! (although if we are comparing, I did only make it another two weeks ….)
And many congrats on the boy as well!! I’m so excited for you, I love being the mom of a little boy. I’m sure I’d love a girl too, but I love having a boy, and I’m sure you will too!
Posted by: Jeannie at September 21, 2006 09:37 PMYou are definitely one of those people that glows when they are pregnant! And GREAT dress!
Posted by: Dani at September 22, 2006 07:15 AMAw! You look both look great. I love the colour of your dress. A Hallowe’en baby?
Posted by: Paula at September 22, 2006 08:34 AMYou look so happy, Aven! Positively glowing :)
Posted by: kelly at September 22, 2006 09:35 AMI had a wedding to go to when I was about the same size you are now (also a boy). It was nice to buy a fancy dress, knowing I would not be wearing it often. Got to love the empire waist dress. Try to take it out for a “mommy and daddy” dinner. You may not get a cahnce in the few months. Nice dress.

A boy - YAY!

Posted by: Jill at September 22, 2006 12:42 PMWell I have to chime in (because it is true) and tell you that you look beautiful! Wow! You are a walking advertisement for being pregnant.
Yay for baby sweaters. I dearly love making them because they are cute and instant gratifiction. Have you discovered the fabulousness of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino? I also picked up a couple of her infant/baby pattern books and they ended up being my staples. I love them.
I did buy/download a pattern from the Lion Brand site that is a cardi knit in one piece including the collar and I have to say I loved doing it and I love the finished product! That was a fun one. Princess Tiffany jacket or something. But I did it in navy and it looks great for boys.
Posted by: Laurie at September 22, 2006 01:05 PMWhat a gorgeous dress Aven..you look so beautiful. Mark looks really handsome too..I don’t think I’ve seen a picture of the two of you together and you make an awesome couple :) It’s terrific that you’re going to have a little Libra..they have wonderful personalities. I’m so happy you found out it’s going to be a boy beforehand…yeah Toronto :) I didn’t know I was going to have a boy when I had my son and had made a cute little pink blanket and wallpapered his room in pink :) Take care Aven..you look really wonderful

Posted by: stephanie at September 24, 2006 10:13 PMHope you’re feeling as well as you look - great! A little boy will be wonderful. My grandson (8 months old now) was here this afternoon, and we had so much fun watching him learn to crawl that I didn’t mind not getting any knitting done.
