Happy Thanksgiving

Hi! Guess what? I’m still here! And, amazingly, actually knitting… a little. Time just seems to keep slipping away from me, even though I constantly feel like I’m not getting enough done. But that’s not all that unusual, I suppose…

Anyway, I’ve actually managed to finish something, and even take a photo of it! Aren’t you proud? Unsurprisingly, it’s for the baby — a somewhat improvised little top-down pullover:

The improvisation resulted in a slight lack of proportion — the body’s a little wide for the size of the arms, but that’s not a big deal. And I split the neckband a little to make the neck opening bigger and easier to slip over baby’s head. The main goal of using up stash odds and ends was accomplished, anyway, and I like the stripes.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with Mark’s sister on Saturday — duck with wild and brown rice stuffing, roast veg, pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice crème brulée. The rest of the weekend has been devoted to work, unfortunately — we’ve had one last hurrah of sunny, warm, beautiful weather, but we weren’t able to get out much.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Canada, or celebrating it elsewhere — we have alot to be thankful for here, and I hope you do too!

Awwwwwww that little sweater you made is beautiful Aven. I love the stripes and the colours you chose. Weather-wise, it really was a gorgeous weekend.

I’m happy you had a good thanksgiving weekend. You have me wanting to make a rice stuffing now. I bet it would be good in a turkey too :)

When you were quiet for so long I figured the baby had made an early appearance! Do we have Mark trained on how to let your blog readers know when to celebrate? I know…digital friends are a hassle. :-)

That’s so cute! The really lovely thing about babies is that they’re sooooo small. Of course they tend to spit up more on handknits than others, but at least they’re a quick knit.

Hi Aven,

It was nice to see you and Mark at the wedding and as I said, I do check out your blog from time to time to see what you guys are up to. :)

I came across this on my internet travels and thought you might get a kick out of it (if you haven’t seen it already):

Hey girl…prosh sweater, and happy Thanksgiving, a bit late :) Hope you are feeling okay, and getting as much rest as you can. Can’t wait to hear about Baby Cato Beowulf’s arrival…

Such a cute little sweater! But this post is a week old … are you off having your baby now? :)

The sweater is just adorable. Improvisations always lead to something good. There are a lot of great ideas and suggestions at this Thanksgiving Blog at http://thanksgiving4all.blogspot.com.

Hi Aven,

I’m glad to read your post when I did! Anything reminding me of Canadian Thanksgiving on the actual weekend would have been a little too much to bear, but as it is, I can read it and see that you enjoyed yourselves and enjoy myself reading it. That was a terrible sentence, but I’ll leave it as a reminder to myself of the imperfection that we sometimes have to settle for (I have an exam this morning).
Best,
Matt
