I’m breaking my silence to report an exciting appearance of my knitting in the wide world. Can you spot my Bad Penny here?

This (photo by Alana Riley) is the most recent cover of the Montreal magazine Maisonneuve. The model — both versions — is my sister Morel. Doesn’t she look amazing? And I’m so proud that the top I knitted was considered good enough for a cover girl.

Go check out the magazine, if you feel like it — I think they deserve some love, for having the good taste to feature both my sister and my knitting! Also, I think it’s an interesting mag, especially if you’re in or from Montreal.

Update: Apparently it’s a controversial issue, too! Silly Chapters… obscuring my sister’s big modelling debut!

That is so cool! Both for you and your sister!

(I have to admit the post title on your link: “Warning: may contain nipples” made me laugh.)

Hey, anyone could also enter a comment on the Maisonneuve article entry saying what a FABULOUS cover it is, with such a GORGEOUS cover girl(s), especially because she’s wearing the the AMAZING handknit yellow sweater….

I love the polybag warning. I think I should get a shirt that says that and wear it around myself!

The composition of the photo is awsome. Both the sweater and your sister look lovely, there are very few people who can wear yellow that well.I enjoyed the magazine article. The fact that companies feel they have to censor nudity more stringently than they do violence makes me sad. Though the polybag sticker was very clever. I second the shirt idea! :)

Hey Aven, what a nice post. Btw, Maisonneuve is out of Montreal, but it’s not strictly a Montreal magazine.

And just in case anybody’s confused, I’m not the nipple-baring stripper in the magazine that all the fuss is about!

Maybe you’ll have to knit some pasties for upcoming issues, Aven. Heeeeeeeeeee!

With tassles, of course.

Well, they’re not knitted, but the Supercrafty book has instructions for making pasties (pay-stees) in them.

I am far more likely to make pasties(PASS-ties), a type of Cornish meat pie.

…and you want to be sure not to mix the two kinds of pasties up. Could lead to some unfortunate burns.

I was reading the Yarn Harlot’s blog and came across your name, Aven. As that is my name and extremely unusual in Ohio, where I live, I was wondering how you were given your name. I know of only 2 other Aven’s in my world, both of whom were named after the mothers heard my name and like it.

Oh, that’s so fabulous! That your sweater (with your sister in it) is on a cover of a magazine! Go, Aven!

Wow, that’s too cool, your Mum must be so proud!

That is so cool! You should get it framed.
